Project Overview
Work by the study team has resumed upon receiving the updated year 2035 Traffic Model on March 3, 2011. The team is in the process of updating the project traffic volumes and related analysis for re-evaluating the preferred alternative for the Study. The overall study schedule will be updated in April as the traffic
evaluation progresses.
The
Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) started a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study in November 2008 that will consider transportation improvement options on State Road 76 (Kanner Highway) in Martin County, Florida. A map detailing the limits of the project is shown below. The project extends from west of CR 711 (SW Pratt Whitney Road/SW 96th Street) to east of Cove Road, a distance of approximately 2.4 miles.
The FDOT is conducting this
PD&E study to identify and analyze various alternative design concepts to meet the future traffic needs on SR 76. This study also serves to evaluate the environmental effects of the alternatives. It is anticipated that the potential mainline widening improvements will be within the existing right-of-way. Additional right-of-way will likely be needed for stormwater management facilities, floodplain compensation sites, and interchange improvements.
